Another quick thing was to mention that the news group alt.ph.uk is still live and this month (June) has had quite a few posts. Found it a good meeting place because its been established for many years (longer than we've been in this business. You will find people that are RM Admins as well, they do make me laugh with some of the stuff they say. There is also a group for IT staff and teachers that don't cover hacking on RM but provide info to do with the network that could be used to your advantage

OK well this is me and the teams first attempt at the site so you may find a glitch or 2 but as we progress we should become bug free...if you find that there are buttons that don't work or downloads that don't work its because we are still working on it.

We are looking at different layouts but we wanted to get this up quick because we didn't find allot of information available to u guys. We will also be introducing a news page. Email us with comments and we also want your address in case the site goes down and we relocate we want to let let you know where we are.

VERSIONS OF RM CONNECT

There are currently a few versions of RM Connect available all of of which are priced so that your school has gold, We don't know why schools use RM because its easier to buy a server and use normal workstations, the versions we know of include:-

RM Connect for windows 3.11 - No school should be using this version anymore but the text files still relate to it in places

RM Connect 2.1 - A slightly older version of 2.4, we couldn't find any difference between the two except for a s**t ass security software that's more easy to get rid of then getting logged on

RM Connect 2.4 - The one that our school uses so the one we know the most about

RM Connect 3.0 - Our school just brought but not everyone has access to it

looks a little something like this as far as we know - if anyone has a picture of there own schools please send it to us by email. We need to know more information about connect 3.0. If it makes you happy just take out the picture of your school logo.

Just started to explore the workings of this creation and started by emulating the user accounts and security groups but until we can get inside this network we aren't going to know how it works, we need you to tell us how your schools etc works and we will assign the credits to you after we write the paper. Personally I would rather use active directory to manage because its a little more secure, not much though ;-) or they could have waited a bit and worked on a better security system and rolled it in to the new windows server 2003. My personal understanding is that the station are assigned a custom group like "restricted station" which has a policy that has been written by RM. If you change this and remove the "restricted station" away from the computer using RM management console or Active directory if you can get to a Windows 2000 server system. The RM connect 3 system is managed over a "secure" cough ;-) connection using internet explorer so it makes it a little bit more difficult for us to get hold of the key files because there not EXE anymore there HTTPS and web pages are a new way we have seen of managing RM connect networks. Anyway will keep you posted, lets work through the summer to find out how it works and go back to know more then anyone else :-)
